Jared
Lujan
From the start, Jared was precocious—walking before 10 months, talking by one year, and winning hearts with his expressive personality and infectious smile. He adored his older brother Mathew and took pride in being a big brother to Daniel. Jared’s love for his family was deep and unwavering, and his bond with each of them was unique and cherished.
In 2017, we had the honor of riding for Jared Lujan
Jared Carlos Lujan, the ultimate Google Eyed Warrior was truly courageous in the his battle with his cancer. His battle ended in victory on April 4, 2006 when went home to be in the presence of Our Lord and Savior.

Jared Carlos Lujan passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. At just 10 years old, Jared lived a life full of light, courage, faith, and joy that touched all who knew him.
In August 2003, Jared was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, which later progressed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Despite enduring countless treatments, surgeries, and hospital stays, Jared faced his illness with strength, humor, and unshakable faith. He earned the nickname “The Enigma” from doctors due to his remarkable resilience.
Jared loved school, Christian music, his lightsabers, and dressing up—most notably as a Jedi knight for a special Make-A-Wish party. He was a gifted storyteller, a top tackler on his youth football team, and wise beyond his years. His favorite song, Go the Distance, became his personal anthem through treatment and into eternity.
As his illness progressed, Jared made the brave decision to stop treatment and spend his remaining days with family. He faced death not with fear, but with peace—anchored by his faith in Jesus Christ and his hope in eternal life. In his own words: “We have all eternity to spend together.”
Jared requested his celebration of life be filled with color, music, joy, and “Warhead” candies—not mourning. His one challenge to those who hear his story: Will you see him again? Jared knew the answer lies in faith, as he believed deeply that “no one comes to the Father except through the Son” (John 14:6).
Jared is survived by his parents, Richard and Angela Lujan; brothers, Mathew and Daniel, and is an uncle, although he never got the chance to be in this life.

May 11, 1995 — April 4, 2006
To honor his life, his battle, his spirit, and the hospital that made such a difference during this battle, we setup Jared’s Google Eyed Warrior Team in 2006 to ride in the Courage Classic.
The Lujan family found such a wonderful resource in the hospital when there are very limited resources. It is vital that those who are impacted by such awful diseases have such a great resource to help them in the new struggle they may be facing. Children’s Hospital Colorado helps makes sense of a senseless situation, and we will always help raise money so the efforts of the entire staff of the hospital can be felt by those who need them most.
