13 Days until #CourageClassic2025!
Hi Wheels!
This will be my final newsletter before the Courage Classic. We are about half way to our fundraising goal and in the golden hour! Many of you have raised buckets of money already, and many of you like to wait to inspire your deadline driven donors. Either way, fantastic job! You are tremendous and I am honored to be a part of this team! As you know, this is our 20th Anniversary, along with Cardiac Climbers. As I type this email, our lifetime total is $7.3M and I really think $7.5M has a nice ring to the 20 year number. So, no pressure, but please raise $200,000 in the next 13 days!!! :)
We will be acknowledged at the main event program Saturday night at 5pm and I hope to see you all there!
We do not have a group ride planned next weekend, a number of you are riding in the Triple Bypass - good luck and stay safe! Hope everyone has a great last week of training before the big day! If your training isn’t where you thought it would be, that’s OKAY! You are not alone. The Courage Classic is the most supported and supportive ride out there. There is no shame in Sagging, many of us start the route with sagging in mind. Don’t give yourself any grief, whatever you are able to ride, and even if you don‘t, you made an impact and we are grateful to have you on the team and in the Wheels Family! If you want to pivot and work an aid station or volunteer, gimme a shout! Back to the support, if this is your first CC - there is more food than you can think of with aid stations along the way. There are mechanics, sunscreen and first aid stations, medics, sag wagons (cyclist picker uppers), cheerleaders, Colorado State Patrol, and 2,000 of your new best friends. We’ve got your back, you will never hear thank you so many times in a day again.
With the weekend almost here I have a few favors to ask! We are looking for volunteers to help handout apparel at our Tent on Friday night from 4-8pm. Volunteer dependent, we will have a team station setup for you to come buy Forever Martha Strong Tie-Dye Shirts, and both gear from this year and previous years! If you can donate 90 minutes of your time and help the team out, please signup here! If you have gear you would like to give away, we will setup a free grab box as well, please feel free to add your “like-new” gear there.
If you are signed up for the Classic and CANNOT ride, please reply to this email and let us know. We can convert your registration to a virtual rider so that the team is not charged for your food and supplies and the foundation can plan for an accurate number of riders on the course. This year we do have RFID which helps them log who is out and about, but certainly doesn’t help save costs. Please, please, let us know if you are not riding!
Some notes to changes in the routes:
Route Changes for 2025 Courage Classic
Please take note of some important route changes for this year’s tour!
Keystone & Loveland Pass riders will NOT ride on Hwy 6 from Dillon Dam to the Town of Keystone and will ride on the Dillon Res. Rec Path and Summit County Rec Path. Loveland Pass riders will still access Hwy 6 after the Town of Keystone to start the ascent to Loveland Pass Summit. This impacts miles 16-23.3 for both routes.
Keystone & Loveland Pass riders will NOT ride on Swan Mtn. Rd. to access Sapphire Point and will ride on the Dillon Res. Rec Path from Swan Mtn. Road/Hwy 6 to Sapphire Point. This is due to road paving on Swan Mtn. Rd from Swan Mtn. Rd/Hwy 6 to Sapphire Point. Westbound Swan Mtn. will still be closed for 4 hours as riders will ride on Swan Mtn. Rd. after Sapphire Point. Please be prepared to dismount your bike to cross the milled road. This impacts miles 26.5-30 for Keystone riders and miles 44-48 for Loveland riders.
